I was reading an article in a magazine today about prevention of diabetes and the usual stuff about changing lifestyle etc to avoid getting diabetes as it can take 10 years off your life, this was quoted by a spokesperson for DUK. It is reading things like that that makes me feel depressed about having diabetes. I know when i was first diagnosed i scared myself stupid reading stuff about it on the net but people on here were very reassuring that this is not the case if you adopt a healthy lifestyle and look after yourself, so why do they keep printing stuff like this? i also remember a GP telling my mother the same thing when she became diabetic (she became diabetic after contracing pancreatitis and had to go straight onto insulin). It is not the first time i have heard or read this, a bit insensitive i think, why don't they add the positive side?
