Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, I'm newly diagnosed (fri) and I'm slowly getting to grips with it all. Of course I have a million questions but my main question tonight is, has anyone else got both T2 and fibro? I'm interested to know if so are your feet ultra sensitive. Mine are OK in the day but at nite I can't bare anything touching then or the difference in cold/hot. I spend all nite trying to stop them feeling "icky" until my sleep meds kick in that is. Is this a diabetes thing or just a fibro thing or as I suspect is it a combo of the two!!!!

Hi and welcome to the group. Not much help as I am type 1. My wife has had fibro over 20 years so I got an idea about that. how long have you had the fibro.

There are many fibro forums around so I don't know if they might be a better source of info as I suspect diabetes is more common than fibro so joining a fibro group might improve your chances of finding someone with both. The lady who runs my wife's fibro support meeting has both and is always complaining about her feet but in what way I don't know.

As I have now responded to your post I expect there will be more replies to shut me up!🙂

All the best and keep in touch.

The answer is it could be either or both. If it’s diabetes related then you should get it checked out so have a chat with your nurse. You might find that magnesium supplements help (I use a spray) and that massage or other desensitisation activities help if it’s fibro related or you may need different meds. My feet are often uncomfortable but it’s no worse for me at night. If it’s diabetes then it can be a sign of issues that need treatment. So basically talk to your nurse or GP

(I have fibro but not diabetes)
