These two often go hand in hand, and, if you're unlucky to have both, glucose level management is a real headache, especially when holidaying abroad, so I find it hard to understand why so little press coverage is given to the problem. The diabetes magazine 'Balance' rarely seems to address the issue.

The manufacturers of 'Free From' products get over the the crumbliness problem caused by removal of gluten by loading up with sugar; hardly helpful.

I haven't found any difference in glucose levels, mind you I rarely buy from the free from range. Go back to basics and problem is solved 🙂

Hi Arthur - can I ask cos I haven't a clue, how common it actually is to have both these things? I mean OK we know all AI things go somewhat hand in hand but there are shedloads of coeliacs who don't have D and vice versa. Are there more with D & C than D & RA, for instance?

I have only ever bought a couple of Free From products, because there are generally very good, non-"mutated" options to replace glutenous elements. The only two hings I have ever specially bought are GF Soy Sauce for stir frying and GF Worcester Sauce, just once as it wasn't quite the same.

If you have trouble making your Coeliac status understood abroad, The Coeliac Society does little flash cards in lots of languages to get the point across.
