Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Would like to know any good diets or recipes for newbie with type 2 and underactive thyroid.
Thanks.

If you have an underactive thyroid, take your Thyroxine or other medication first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
If you have type two diabetes and a higher than normal Hba1c, reducing the amount of carbohydrate you eat will help a lot in reducing your blood glucose, meal by mean which will result in a lower Hba1c level, Many people find that using a meter to test their response to meals is a great help - you can get meters and strips mail order far cheaper than at chemists.
When reducing carbohydrates you do then need to avoid anything low fat in order to switch from using carbs as fuel to using fats. This is contrary to the 'healthy' diet which has made some people so very ill and so very fat over the past couple of decades - but many people are now a lot better for it.

Hi @Welly10 and welcome to the forum. As Drummer has said, a low carb diet is a great way to manage type 2, you will find all you need to know here on the forum so take some time to have a good read and then ask any questions you might have, we are a friendly and supportive bunch and all remember well the early days of working out what food works best for us. I spent at least a week convinced I would starve to death and be miserable for the rest of my life!! Fact is the complete opposite happened, thanks to these guys I learned to ‘test, review, repeat’ and soon realised its not so bad, I’m just over a year in, 4 stone lighter (with minimum effort), I sleep better and feel better than I have in years. I also have heart disease and have seen a significant improvement there on the low carb diet! I wouldn’t change what I eat now no matter what :D
