Getting a puppy is one of the coolest experiences of any kid’s life. That’s especially true for 9-year-old Cruz Jones of Corning.
This week, a 14-week-old female black Lab puppy – which he named Siren – arrived at his family’s Northside home, hand-delivered by a trainer from Guardian Angel Service Dogs of Virginia.
Cruz has Type 1 diabetes, and Siren has been trained to detect his blood sugar level. If it’s too high, Siren will paw him. Too low, and the pup will give him a nudge with her snout.
