Today, March 26, is the American Diabetes Association?s 25th annual Diabetes Alert Day. This is a one-day wake-up call, and a challenge for Americans to take the Diabetes Risk Test to assess whether they are at risk for developing Type II diabetes.
Diabetes affects all types of people regardless of their age, ethnicity or social status. If left untreated, diabetes can lead to deadly complications ? including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, amputation and depression. The disease does not just affect those with a diagnosis. It also affects the relatives, co-workers, employers, parishioners and loved ones of the diagnosed.
