Sorry this subject in the uk really angers me!!!!
I am type 1 was breast fed and still got it.
Child poverty should not exsist here we have a welfare state that provides support it just means where people spend there money and anyone working will now it is hard to make ends meet but we have to give up our luxurys to support the children in our family. my mum ate 1 meal a day to ensure i and my sister had all we could need for eg food clothes and love. toys came at christmas and birthdays and we had a holiday every year, through her sacrificing herself for us after our dad died
Hi tracyp
I was'nt breastfed, neither was Nathan...he although has become Tpye1
I agree child poverty should not exist, but in reality it does, in some cases.
Yes there is a welfare state that provides support, and some people milk the system for all it is worth, even though they do not need such help or a on the fiddle.
This welfare state/DSS, also have tight restrictions in place that you are not allowed any extra other than what the state says you are....if you get some as 1p more than that it is immediately taken off you.
Unfortunately I am in such position that i rely on the state...which i wish i didnt have to...I was married to Nathans dad, but he walked out when Nathan was 5..we divorced a year later...I have also medical conditions that prevent me from working... through no fault of my own, I have found myself in this circumstance.
However, all things considered, I do as I'm sure most other parents would do in the same situation, I dont go out, we dont have holidays, I live on toast n cornflakes mostly so nathan can have the best food etc, he always has clean clothes etc, save all year for christmas so he dose'nt go without,
he is number 1 and always will be.
Despite this..I feel truly lucky for the things we have, roof over our head, basic things.....But more important to any child and that no amount of money can buy, is LOVE and to be proud of who we are and where we come from.
