I'm so excited that I haven't been able to sleep.................

Hehe! Let's hope that it means you will get more peaceful nights when you can worry less about your levels 🙂 Hope everything arrives OK and that it's not too tricky to set up 🙂 I am sure lots of us will be very interested in hearing how it goes!

Let us know how you get on. Brilliant news you are getting something that will help you get better control and give you peace of mind.

Good luck keep us updated on how you get on with it x

Thanks everyone I'm hoping that this morning will be the last one that I wake up with a BG of 17.8

Hope it goes really well for you. (quite jealous actually!)

Hi Shiv I'm sitting watching the clock wondering where it is. Yes I am self funding. When I spoke to different consultants about one it was clear that I couldn't get It on the NHS. The cost is high so we are going to have to really cut back but as I already have problems with my eyes and gastroparesis it will be worth it if it helps tighten my BGs. My HBA1Cs are usually 7.5 to 7.8 but my BGs are very erratic because of the gastrparesis so I'm hoping that the CGM will provide me with all of the warnings that I need and prevent the high BGs.

Ah cool! Best of luck, I hope it helps out. I am considering self funding when I get my hands on the new Animas (which should be in August, yay). Let us know how it goes, I am really curious!

Thanks Shiv I'll probably bore everyone with all of my updates🙂

Good luck with it, looking forward to hearing all about it. Hope it helps you!!

It has arrived!! It all looks a bit technical to me so I'm waiting for Mark to get home to help me. They've Sent a practice sensor which will help. If you want to see how it is inserted etc there are tutorial videos which guide you through the steps. They are available at www.Dexcom.com

OK Shiv it takes three hour for the receiver to charge. Once that's charged I can insert the sensor.....which seems to be the trickiest bit. Once that's inserted i have to wait two hours and then get my first reading.....which will be about 10pm (but I'm usually asleep at 9pm). Will update you once I've got the first reading:D

Exciting times!

I'm really hoping it works for you AJ and that you start to get the levels you deserve. Fingers well and truly crossed. XXXXX

Have you decided on a name for it yet, or are you waiting to see how it performs first? 😉

I hadn't thought about naming it!!! All suggestions would be very welcomed:D

OK practice sensor has been inserted. It had several steps to it so I would highly recommend asking them for a practice sensor which is what they provided me with. Feels a bit strange having a transmitter attached to my tummy. Need to check now if I can wear my tightish jeans with it. Definitely can't wear clingy clothes because the sensor looks like a small bump so I might look a bit strange when I wear a swimsuit but Mark keeps reassuring me that people shouldn't notice the transmitter. Also if the transmitter was much smaller it might be difficult to handle.

Thank you everyone for all of your messages of support
