This morning was due to be the start of extensive dental treatment for both Les and I😱 Due to having a fear of the dentist and a lack of funding, has meant that I now require a partial upper denture surprisingly no fillings🙂 for me Just a partial upper denture removing of 3 roots and a good de-scaling and clean..

This morning was the first of 2 extraction appointments, and I sat in the dentist waiting room, feeling all pleased with myself has I had managed to keep my self calm, and was feeling relaxed and ok about the pending extraction:D

That was until the previous patient came out of one of the dentist rooms, she just had she's been having implants being done over this week, and today were her upper front teeth... she was clutching tissue to her mouth and a plastic cup of water.. She had to sit down as she was feeling a tad woozy from the treatment. Then she started to talk to the receptionist about how her new teeth felt and what the dentist did... And my nerves started to falter...

I did manage to get in the dentist chair, discuss the extraction, and a x-ray to double no problems with the roots being extracted, and the explanation that the local antistatic is a different one to normal as it doesn't have adrenaline in it slightly less effective but he won't effect my blood glucose levels..

He went to inject and I panicked😱

I thought I only moved just slightly, but according to Les (he was with me) I almost leap off the side of the chair, he thought I was hitting the deck!

So my dentist decided that it would be best that he referred me to the hospital dentist, he would carry on and do the x-ray and attach it to the referral..

I thought I had really blown it, and I wouldn't be getting my smile back in mid January.. But Tis not all bad news..

After checking the root x-ray, the dentist realised it is very likely that I will have to have a incision in my gum to release the root.. Which the LA may not be effective enough for the procedure..

Oh, also he's will continue to do the partial denture and rest of the treatment, as he can do the partial denture so it sit above the roots, then when I get my referral the hospital will do the extractions and do any adjustments to the denture required.... Phew.

Dentists appointments can be so stressful, I think you did very well. My dentists waiting room is situated away from reception so you don't have to endure the aftermath of previous patients 😱

Hope all goes well for you and Les in the treatments to come! 🙂

I Have every sympathy for you. The last time I went to The dentist I closed my mouth as he was heading towards it with the needle. I haven't been back since despite suffering from tooth pain

I felt like you not that long ago, I had a fear of dentists ever since they snapped one of my teeth when extracting 2 to make way for braces........many years I didn't attend the dentist, at least until I got the pain, so not tooth ache, dental pain, sharp, electric shock like pains in the whole face..........

From then on, any experience in the dentist chair doesn't come close to that and so now its a doddle............

I hope all goes smoothly when the time comes.......
