NHS trusts in England have reported a combined financial deficit that was nearly twice the amount planned.

There was a deficit of £960m in the last financial year compared with the £496m they had planned for, the regulator NHS Improvement said.

Acute hospitals were largely responsible, mainly because of increased patient demand, it said.

All other providers, including ambulance and mental health trusts, had collectively underspent, it added.

The latest reported deficit is reached after taking account of extra financial support provided by the government.

Hang on a sec, the hospital has a planned deficit, and apparently this is normal, but ambulance and mental health are underspent. So why are they pleading poverty publicly if they don’t spend the money they are allocated? Are they pleading poverty to cover up or excuse deficiencies in service? Somebody should ask them.

Because bean counters don't work like that. You'll be saying next that the NHS
Is a national health service.

Sorry about the deficit its all down to me well it feels like it, once they have you if feels like full time appointments

I’ve moved to England to ruin the deficit. I’m looking for appointments in Diabetes (for a pump) Orthopaedics (for a hip) , Neurology (for a proper diagnosis) Pancreatitis ( to check progress) and a colon survey which is coming due.

Well, you’ve got to keep yourself occupied when you’re retired.🙂
