A woman who has given 100 pints of blood says she feels as if she has a “little halo” above her head every time she donates.

Sylvia Scotney made her 100th donation at Deepings Methodist Church on Monday.

Sylvia, of Park Road, Deeping St James, began giving blood when she was 21 and has no intention of slowing down.

“It’s just so vital with all the intricate operations and blood transfusions they do,” said Sylvia.

“I feel as if I’m being really good-spirited. Not just for the community but for the whole human race.

“When I donate I feel so humble. I feel as if I have got a little halo.”

Sylvia has donated regularly all through her life. She said: “Since I started I haven’t had a family so I have been able to donate all the time.
