The people of the East Midlands have been named as the UK's fattest after NHS figures revealed the region has the most hospital admissions for obesity-related health issues.
The city of Derby has the highest proportion of residents needing weight reduction surgery, such as gastric bands and stomach-stapling, with 80 people in every 100,000 going under the knife.
Meanwhile the Nottinghamshire town of Bassetlaw has the most obesity-linked hospital admissions.
