Hopes are rising that the bitter NHS junior doctors dispute could soon be over, with an announcement expected on Wednesday that peace talks have produced a compromise deal.

The Department of Health and British Medical Association believe that after what both privately describe as positive negotiations in the last 10 days, the outline of a revised contract for junior doctors in England will be published.

“We’re nearly there,” a source with knowledge of the discussions said. Insiders said the talks, which began on 9 May, had produced significant progress on a range of key issues.

Let's hope so! 🙂

Can't see why they don't run the NHS as a proper business and have shift patterns for all with an overall pay increase and scrap the locums that cost the NHS far to much money.

Because they have hundreds if not thousands of posts they can't get (suitable) applicants for.

Exactly the same as the Police. DC announces the Police will recruit 1500 more armed officers. Armed officers have to be policemen already with X years service and at a certain level before they can apply.

How? they are 300 short of the current armed requirement as they can't get officers to apply for them. We live in N Warwickshire and when we had a burglary local police decided it might be a good idea - even though the gun cabinet had not been interfered with or the keys to it found (they were still well hidden where they should have been) to take Pete's guns into custody. However the nearest Firearms Officers to us the other side of Coventry - are in Birmingham. For granting and every renewal of a Shotgun certificate (not a firearms licence) the holder has always had to have his premises, his security and the gun(s) themselves inspected, plus the photograph replaced with a new one, duly signed by someone in authority who knows him/her. They dropped the pic over 10 years ago (oh and so you think Pete still has all the (same colour) hair and teeth he had in the early noughties?) and last year - renewed without any visit here whatever, just a phonecall from the chap who was doing it all 7 years ago. He was in his late 60s then but despite retiring years previously still working part time for them doing this ,since they couldn't recruit a replacement. They still can't)
