Hi everyone, is it serious if you have althetes foot when you are diabetic I have had it on and off for a couple of years now and it has got bad again, should I go to the doctor or persevere with OTC remedies? Thanks

I have suffered AF in the past but luckily anti fungal cream helped me alot, do you know any podiatrists you can ask for better advice,if it keeps recurring makes sure you do the following.
The feet should be thoroughly dried, especially between the toes, change your socks regular, dont use to much soap on them this takes away some of the oils in your feet and makes you more prone also dont spend to much time in trainers.

Thanks Steff I notice you are down as diet and excercise on your profile so am I for now how is it all going for you?

Hi Jase,
I have sent you a PM as to not hijack your thread m8

Had this badly last year and I eventually went to the Dr who prescribed a cream called "Lamisil" (genetic name was 30g Terbinafine 1% cream) which worked like magic. Only available on prescription though I think. Good luck with this - it's horrible isn't it when it really gets a hold ?

My podiatrist told me to only use a dry spray as the creams are not good between the toes, can keep foot too moist.

I never could see it mind:confused:

I'd suggest consulting a Pharmacist in the first instance. If the over the counter remedy he/she recommends is unsuccessful your GP may prescibe a more effective ointment.

I got some Lamisil over the counter this week, so you don't need a prescription for it. Seems to be working... I also get the talc you can put in your shoes and socks to stop it recurring.

THere is also a liquid you can paint on, plus they can actually give you tablets if it's persistent.

So try Lamisil (it is good), Mycil or Mycil type talc if you have sweaty feet/socks for a bit and if it still won't go, Doctor.

What sort of range are you getting with your BGs though? - thrush and athlete's foot always tell me my control has been and is, NOT GOOD.
