This morning my BG was 9.7 on waking so I added an extra unit to my usual NR before breakfast. Mid-morn I was out shopping with my girls when I felt really odd and unwell so I tested and my BG was 1.8! I had some lucozade then went to a nearby caf? and had a crumpet and coffee with sugar. An hour after my BG was 16.7. I did my usual NR with lunch but have been running low ever since, and I'm at work alone too. I've already had 2 hypos and treated with lucozade and biscuits, now my BG is 3.3 again.

Newbs massive hugs - I hope it gets sorted out very soon xx

Goodness, I'm sorry to hear this newbs :( It sounds like you have become particularly sensitive to your insulin for some reason - is it possible that your 9.7 this morning might have been a rebound high from a nighttime low? It might be worth running your levels a bit higher - being a bit mean with the insulin doses - as it sounds like you didn't detect this morning's 1.8 until late. Sometimes when you get lows like that your liver can become depleted of glucose stores so it tries to recoup that through the day - it sounds like this may be what is happening now, so try and keep topped up and I hope you stabilise very soon.

It could easily be that your liver is reclaiming the glucose + the weather in Cornwall is boiling hot atm and I've noticed that I have had to cut my doses down a bit.

i hope you get it all sorted and feel better soon

I didn't manage to stabilise BG, got through a whole bottle of lucozade and various other food items and still dropped again afterwards. Ended up having to call my FIL as couldn't even contemplate driving home and left work early. Now my BG is 15.1, which I was expecting following the amount of glucose I've consumed today! I guess my waking BG could be caused by a hypo during the night so am going to cut back Lantus this evening anyway.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a much better day!

So sorry for you today :( it must have been so hard for you?

I so hope you have a better day tomorrow 🙂

I hope that tomorrow will be a much better day for you x

Hope you're not coming down with a bug?

I hope I'm not coming down with anything too.

Blood stayed high all evening and night, didn't sleep much at all due to being restless as I always am when high, and the constant needing the loo and drinks for a dry mouth - woke up to 10.7. BG mid-morn 15.7. Oh the joys of Diabetes!!!

I really don't feel like going to work today but will go as I have so much to do - and didn't do much there yesterday so need to catch up.

Sorry for moaning, it's just really getting to me at the moment.

Isn't it time you got that pump referral? They do seem to be quite pro-pump at Treliske.

I'm having tests for possible gastroparesis first, have a gastroscopy booked for Tuesday then a gastric emptying study sometime after that. The consultant wants to see the results of these tests before thinking about the possibility of a pump.

Well gawd knows why Newbs - Amanda will tell you - a pump is by FAR the best way of helping your gastroparesis, apart from being the best way to treat everyone's diabetes LOL

I think you may find it's 'the curse of the stored insulin' and sorry Eli Lilly! Lantus seems to be somewhat worse at doing it than other recipes.

I've had hypos like that on Lantus in the past and the ONLY thing any of us can put it down to (I mean me, consultant and DSN) is trapped insulin, which can of course hang about for up to 12 years and then decide to release itself.
