There's a lot of tools I've learned in my recovery which helps a lot but I have a bit of a passion to find out about connections with diabetes, mental health and addiction would you have any information or websites I could look into thanx.

Hi and welcome from me too.

I believe there are studies about diabetes and mental health and disordered eating connections but I wouldn't know where to point you to find them. Hopefully someone else will.
I had disordered eating....comfort eating and sugar addiction... pre diagnosis but my diagnosis was the kick up the backside I needed to quit the sugar. I still comfort eat to a certain extent and use alcohol occasionally but I choose low carb options so I am not wasting insulin on it and I have found low carb things that I enjoy, so it compensates for the stuff I have given up and I don't want to go back to my addiction now I have it under control. I have found that focusing on my health and diabetes management has helped me to deal with my eating problems. I have Freestyle Libre sensors and I use them a bit like a computer game to keep myself in range and improve my score and try to improve on my personal best so my focus is very much on following a diet which will help me to do that and keep my insulin usage as low as possible. That is just my way of dealing with it.

Are you on MDI or a pump? Do you have Freestyle Libre system or are you still finger pricking? Which insulin(s) do you have and how do you find them? What sort of HbA1c results are you getting?
Sorry for the Spanish Inquisition.... just interested to know where you are with your diabetes 🙂....

Oh and many congratulations on getting a grip of your addictions. I imagine that was really difficult. Hope you feel a lot better for quitting them.

Gosh - no! - I've no idea where you'd find such things TBH.

Hello and welcome to the forum 🙂

Yes I'm on the Libre sensor2 but the 2 I've used fell off after 2 days which is frustrating I use Nova Rapid and Lantus for injection been using for a while and works ok with me.My HbA1c was sitting at 65 last week and yes I do feel much better after facing up to my addictions so now I just Keep it in the Day.

I just bought a strap for my Libre (I have Libre 1 at the moment) but I managed to forget which arm it was on and scrub it off in the shower a couple of times, so now I have the strap on it to help it remain in place but also to remind me not to scrub that arm. Abbott don't recommend the arm straps but it is working great for me in holding it in place without applying undue pressure, the sensor is working fine with it and I am more confident of not losing it. I work outdoors a lot with animals so the opportunities for catching it and knocking it off are quite high without extra securing.
Just something to think about if you haven't considered it.

Thanx Barbara where did you purchase this just sounds what am looking for

I use tubi grip sp* if I want to protect my dexcom for any reason.

I bought one off ebay. It is a 3D printed plastic surround for the sensor attached to an adjustable elastic arm band. It actually arrived with a small packet of Haribo jellies as a hypo treatment which I wasn't expecting and was a bit of a temptation for me..... I now see jelly babies as medicine to treat a hypo but a packet of Haribo is like someone giving you a glass of your favourite brew... Aaarghh!! If you Type in "Libre sensor strap" I am sure you will find plenty of options but I will see if I can link the one I got if that helps...

here we go. This is the one I got

It annoyed me a bit because it shows the price as much lower until you select the colour you want and then it goes up to £8.95 and the lower price is just for a spare band without the cover...But all the other entries on ebay seem to do the same thing so I just bit the bullet and I am very happy with how well it works.

Thanx very much Barbara, there's always a catch somewhere

I'm finding the Libre 2 sticks much like the proverbial does to the blanket of my arms!
