Dartmouth charity 'saves taxpayers £5m a year'

PEOPLE power in a town in Devon is saving taxpayers millions of pounds.

The Dartmouth-based Caring charity which provides community services to the elderly and vulnerable is saving the public purse £5million, according to a report it has produced.

Dartmouth Caring focuses on prevention, early intervention and enabling people to remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible.

The charity, which has 100 volunteers and six staff, acts as a one-stop shop for clients, providing health, social care, advice, financial and emotional support, helped by its strong connections with the community and the health and social care professionals.
