Hello, following on from my earlier thread https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/pump-panel-say-no.66767/ about wanting a pump because I was only taking 1.5 u levemir at night and that wasn't enough but 2u was too much, I have been keeping meticulous diaries, libre senor and basal testing like mad ahead of my next consultant appointment in 2 weeks.
Then the hot weather hit and my insulin requirements went up massively! I had a week of waking to levels of 16 which had crep up gradually through the night, so I increased my nighttime basal in 0.5u increments and am now steady overnight taking 5u levemir! So on the one hand I'm happy that I can wake to a good level and my graphs looks loads better. However, this gets rid of my argument for a pump, but I think my insulin sensitivity will come back when the cold weather returns- I always have a seasonal shift every autumn and then back again early summer. My annual review is always May/June by which time I'm doing ok again! Grr. So I don't think I'll get anywhere saying "these are my lovely graphs but honestly, it's not always this good!".
I do still have the graphs from my libre sensor in February which was when I went to talk to the nurse about what she would take to the pump panel, and she didn't think nightly hypos were a problem. So I can waft them by the consultant, but I'm not holding out much hope, and my diaries are a lot more detailed now because of getting turned down by the pump panel in April. Don't think I'll get anywhere this time either!
