Hello, is anyone else taking Dapagliflozin? How do you find it? I'm really nervous about taking it and have put off starting. I was originally put on Metformin, which was disasterous! The side effects were just unbearable and I felt really ill whilst on them, I persevered knowing that the side effects would hopefully lessen but they didn't, just got worse. I felt like I had an infection whilst on them, hot/cold, nauseous, dizzy and awful diarrhea - but hadn't. I stopped taking them and almost instantly felt better (and apparently looked better). I don't know but felt my levels were fluctuating greatly whilst on the medication. I went back to the nurse and in the 3 months of the sporadic taking of some Metformin and trying to do a low carb diet my Hb1ac had come down from 83 to 68. I was then offered Mounjaro but as all the possible side effects seemed the same as Metformin I asked if there was any other alternative and have been given Dapagliflozin but have just been putting off starting them, which I know isn't good. I do want to be sensible and not bury my head in the sand and think it'll all go away (although tempting). I've been following a low carb diet since just before starting the Metformin but I've just read that isn't advised on the Dapagliflozin. I'm also not much of a drinker (as in water - nothing stronger) and never have been - this is saying you must ensure you drink enough - but what is enough?? I have never been a 1 or 2 litre water a day type of girl. I just find it all a bit of a minefield and so daunting
. I know with T2 they say the Hb1ac is sufficient but I'm beginning to wonder whether monitoring is a good idea to try and see what foods affect me etc. Again that brings it's problems as I'm not keen on the repeated fingerprick tests as I have to try and minimise any punctures in the skin as risk of infection and not really sure on things like the Libre 2 or Dexcom. Anyone with any ideas/ suggestions/ advice? All gratefully received as feeling bamboozled by it all! Thank you
