I'm booked into a 'Improving your CP estimation skills' course tomorrow. Have been told to take my own plate and bowl so that it will be easier to work out carbs at home too. Should be useful, especially after some serious hypos which have been entirely down to overestimating and weight loss I think. I'll let you know....

Sounds interesting, let us know how you get on

Alison good look hope you get out of it what you need, keep us updated x

Is it an official DAFNE course? Either way, I am sure you will come out of it with the knowledge you need.........!!

Do you eat a lot things that need to be weighed out? If not the packaging usually is spot on........

Have fun..........🙂

I hope it goes well Allison 🙂 I've a feeling that I would get a very mediocre score for accuracy if I was asked to do this. I have pretty good control, which means I must be getting my doses correct most of the time, but I suspect it's mostly due to the fact that I have a fairly limited repertoire of food and I cook it all myself, so tend to calculate dose from experience rather than knowing actual carb content. When eating out I tend to look at the plate of food and estimate based on a mental comparison of something similar I might prepare for myself.

Yes, it's an official course, run by the hospital that I did my original DAFNE course at. I've got another one in a few weeks time on 'Insulin Dose Adjustment'. Am looking forward to it. Like you Northerner, my control is pretty good, but I think that's down to eating pretty much the same things most of the time and probably a bit down to good guessing too!
