Dad came home this afternoon with sheets of data from his diabetes review which was on Monday. I'm very tired but his HbA1c is 36.6 mol/mol (I did a quick conversion and think it's still in the 5's - he was diagnosed at 6.5 the last one was 5.8) don't want to post the wrong conversion for this one so I have left it as 36.6.
His cholesterol is 3.9 - there's a lot of broken down figures which I will study when I'm not so tired. We've never had so much data to look at!

The nurse was pleased with him at the review. We are still working hard with diet and exercise and will continue to do so in the hope I can keep dad as healthy as possible. I am really pleased with how he has coped with all the changes we have been through in his diet (he still gets hungry!)

Thank you I wasn't sure if that was right so I'm so pleased you have confirmed this. Going to give dad a big hug 🙂

That's a non-diabetic A1C. Whatever he's doing, he's doing it right.

His cholesterol one wasn't fasting so we don't know the full story as he had only ate his breakfast a short time before his review.

Dad has worked hard with exercise and keeps a regular routine over and above any extra with gardening etc through the advice on this forum we worked on his diet cooking everything from fresh and cutting out things which we didn't realise put his BG levels up.

I am grateful to this forum as the posts made here helped me to understand and start researching foods and diabetes. I had no idea how much was involved until dad was diagnosed. We are working as a team but I'm the one who is tired just now. Hopefully I can rest tonight, I was worried waiting for the result as I cook and feel responsible for the food dad eats. He can't cook at all 😉

They are good figures and you both should be pleased.

Well done, you're both obviously doing the right things!

Thank you for all your kind words, we will continue to work together and hopefully keep dad's health as stable as possible. I know nobody knows when the D fairy will choose to visit just hope we can deal with her if she does.

Pippin thats a great result for your father and yourself as well. x
