Dr Lauren Connelly was killed in a fatal road accident on the M8 after finishing her first 12-hour night shift and now her father Brian is calling for change.

The grieving father of a ?fatigued? junior doctor who died in a car crash after working a night shift is calling for change in the NHS.

Dr Lauren Connelly was killed in a fatal accident on the M8 in September 2011 after finishing her first 12-hour nightshift at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

The 23-year-old Glasgow University graduate, who lived in the town?s Avondale Avenue with her parents, was just seven weeks into her first job as a junior medic.

A procurator fiscal ruled against holding a fatal accident enquiry because Lauren had chosen to drive when she was feeling tired.
