So saw Paul today, got the Libre, turns out you get to keep the reader! 🙂 anyway he didn't make me leave it to settle for 24 hours before activating it, so tried it at tea time, pricked with my accu-chek Aviva expert - 6.7, scanned straight away while waiting on blood result - 6.9! 🙂, bonus with it is the fact that I had the Optium Neo meter when I was first diagnosed (still do for ketone testing) and I just found the glucose strips for it, down side they've been in the top drawer in my bedroom for the past 10-11 months, the date is the 15th of this month, would you guys still use them? TIA 🙂 x

Yes.

Yay! Go Libre! I was demonstrating the bells and whistles of mine to my surgery nurse today, she was very impressed. ( with the technology, as much as my results, I mean! I demonstrated using it, and found I'd shot up to 9.1 while I was in the waiting room!)

Great stuff @Kaylz, glad to hear the sensor if proving accurate for you 🙂 I've used Optium strips that are over a year past their expiry date and they've been fine 🙂
Well I tested just short of 2 hours after eating expert - 6.7, scan 4.8, just done more nearly 3 hours after eating, expert - 5.5, libre blood - 5.4, scan - 4.3, so not going too badly 🙂, and that's great to know as the date on the strips is the 15th and the sensor runs out the 17th!! Lol xx

@Kaylz - I don't know if it's been explained to you, but for a true comparison you need to test your blood, then scan about 15 minutes later. The reason for that is the Libre actually assess your blood sugar from your interstitial fluid, which lags a little behind blood.

Clearly the test/scan differentials are potentially closer/wider if done immediately due to usual irritations, like how fast your blood scores are moving (in either direction).

Some might consider that to be OTT, but it could be helpful if. at some stage, you think you might be seeing some wonky differences between the scans and tests.

It's a great thing. I really hope it helps to bolster your confidence.
