Cycling computer

Good morning everyone.
This is my first post so please be kind.

I have been Type 1 for 33 years.

I have a Garmin Edge 130 Plus cycling computer on my bike and have read elsewhere that it can display your blood sugar reading from your CGM. It might just be from the Dexcom sensors, but I have tried looking for information relating to the Freestyle Libre which I use at the moment and am not having much success.

Has anyone here successfully managed to get their readings displayed on a cycle computer, and if so, can they please advise me how to go about it.

Kindest regards,
Brian.

Hi Brian, I believe it is possible as we have a few cyclists here, so hopefully one of them will come along soon.
İf you use Facebook you could join the group Libre Geeks, they will definitely be able to help you.

Hi @Brian2412 and welcome to the forum - I don't have one myself, but there are instructions on how to get Libre Readings on a Garmin Device in the "Files" section of the Libre Geeks Facebook page (as mentioned by @Lisa65) - I tried to attach a copy here but the file size was too big! Just ask to join and once approved you'll be able to find and download it - see screenshot below

Good luck with it 🙂

I use both a Garmin watch and a Garmin Edge 530. To get the data onto both devices you need to use something other than the standard Librelink app. Both Juggluco and XDrip+ provide the local webserver which the Garmin ConnectIQ "app" accesses for data.

I personally use Juggluco setup to act as the patched librelink app (it provides the same locally broadcast Android Intent message which is broadcast when a new reading arrives) but disable its webserver, and I set XDrip+ to listen for data from the patched app (aka the Android Intent message broadcast by Juggluco in this case) and to run the local webserver which is then accessed by the ConnectQI plugin which forwards the data to the Garmin hardware devices via the Garmin Connect app (all of the Garmin-side of things is done for you transparently, but that's what is happening in the background.)

You can use Juggluco on its own (it can provide the webserver), however I much prefer the interface XDrip+ provides, so I use Juggluco to read the sensors and provide data to XDrip+ (there are ways to make XDrip+ read the sensors directly, using what is called OOP2, but using Juggluco is in my experience a more robust method and allows access to 1min data)

The particular ConnectIQ apps I use are listed in this post: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/question-for-current-xdrip-users.108143/#post-1291084

Aww, thanks for this. I'll give this a try.

Thanks Simon. Will give this a try on my days off when I finish work this week.

I use an Edge 520+ and have got data from both Libre 3 and Dexcom G7

I'm currently using a Dexcom app to read the sensor (but have had better success with Juggluco reading the sensor in the past, both Libre and Dexcom)

I use xDrip+ to get data from the my phone to the Edge/head unit
Using the local internal broadcast works better for me as it doesn't need a data connection (I think the other option is using a "follower" hack)

I get the data into xDrip+ using "Companion App" Hardware Data source which reads the native app notifications.

One small practical thing, if you have your phone in the back pocket of a cycling jersey and the sensor on your abdomen then I found the connection dropped out unless the phone was the same side as sensor.

Thank you Skater P. Everyone is giving such detailed information. Hopefully I’ll get it to work tomorrow when I’m work rest days and get a chance to try it before the rain returns

Welcome to the forum @Brian2412

Good luck in unravelling the technical shenanigans to (hopefully) get your data displayed where it would be. Helpful to you 🙂

I think we are all trying to get out before the rain returns 😎
I think in the end I got it to work bench testing before I went out for a ride with it. BTW you are likely to get a message "Wait max 5 minutes" or similar, this is a good sign and in my experience eventually becomes a reading.

...and I used the Libre app with xDrip+ connecting to it when I tested the Libre 3 sensor. It looks like your Edge 130+ is compatible with Connect IQ so you can look for the xDrip+ datafield (I can't recall exactly which one but I think Simon's post above will mention it)
