I agree with Louise. Grief - anything interesting and tasty we had to eat growing up had most likely been gleaned from Woman's Hour! Lovely wartime cake recipes my mom used long after sugar came off ration cos we loved em! (Wish I still had the coconut slice one ......)
 
Indeed. The BBCs remit is to 'Educate, Inform and Entertain', and a good recipe does all 3 in my book!
 
The bbc website was one of my go to places for recipes.
