Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all. I managed to cut my shin last week leaving a two inch cut which has a nice black scab on it now. The scab has redness around it and has been aching for a week now.
The thing is that my ankle has started this evening to swell up now and keep getting pins and needles on my sole.
I've been a type 2 for nearly two years and keep it under good control.
I'm concerned about the affects of diabetes which can make simple cuts on leg/feet more serious.

Should I contact my nurse in the morning or is it going to be a waste of time for my diabetic nurse?

Cheers Jamie.

Common sense dictates you probably have an infection in your leg thus it needs seeing to whether you have diabetes or not 🙄 The fact it's now swelling would indicate a call to the out of hours GP or 111 for a professional opinion sooner rather than later.

Needs checking, diabetes or not. Either 111 tonight or GP / practice nurse first thing in the morning. Shins have notoriously bad blood supply, so are very prone to poor healing, even if blood glucose levels are normal.
