Current medical standards of fitness to drive

The contentious statement is still the bit about not having a hypo requiring assistance within the preceding 12 months.

Hardly encourages honesty at the clinic.

I can understand the desire to avoid drivers having hypos all over the place but it's a very harsh rule to place on a large % of the population.

When I had my last hypo, the wife offere to get me some toast and marmalade, does that constitute assistance?

Perplexed of Killin😛

As far as I am aware the DVLA are wanting to know about your hypo awareness.

So if you were driving and felt a hypo coming on you could you stop safely and deal with it?

My interpretation is that there's a distinct difference between "requiring assistance" and being offered toast & marmalade.

Thanks for making my point. The point is this is a legal requirement and yet the words are open to individual interpretation. I actually believe it means medical intervention. No-one is going to report an incident to the DVLA where their partner had to supply them with jelly babies are they?
