As per the title, I am currently trialling the Dexcom one+.

Since wearing it for the past 4 days my levels have never reached 7mmol, this is also the case after eating, I am following the low carb intake.

Yesterday whilst sitting with my mate in a pub having only three Diet Cokes and no food for the duration of 6 hours, I noticed my levels were creeping up, it went to 7mmol, although this is not high, I was curious if the non-consumption of food was the reason behind this.

Your body regulates your BG and your liver can release glucose if your body thinks you need it.

Stress, excitement, activity, illness and a host of other factors can cause it rise or fall with or without food.

This is for example, particularly noticeable in a lot of people first thing. The liver often dumps a whole load of glucose when first waking to stoke the fire so to speak and give the body a nice bit of fuel to get the day going with.

Cortisol, the stress hormone, is released during the day and this increases glucose production and promotes insulin resistance.

It’s at its highest in the morning, in particular after 8:00 am.

Agree with the above. The glucose regulation system in the body is incredibly complicated with all sorts of things going on over which we have no control. Your blood glucose will wander about all by itself. You can kick it by eating but even then the effects are a bit unpredictable because of all the other stuff. On top of that your Dexcom is making an educated guess of what your blood glucose might be.

My thought for anybody with T2 is not to try to be too clever in interpreting BG readings when they are in the sort of range you might expect for non diabetics. It is a matter of opinion what the "normal" range is but for me it is above 5 and under 10.

Hello @DaPa. Glancing back at your posts since May 21, I think you should be congratulated. You've come a long way since your "precautionary " pre-diabetic diagnosis. Your determination to lose some weight and have a healthy future is commendable.

As you already realise a reading of 7mmol/L is in itself wholly acceptable. What is more important for you is that thanks to your Dexcom One+ you can see for yourself that your chosen lifestyle is now allowing your body to regulate your blood glucose extremely well and hence keep you in a safe place. Your listed HbA1cs are impressive; your CGM is, in my opinion, simply confirming you've got this D malarkey in its place and allowing you to "muse" about these more subtle metabolic behaviours. Well done.
