Hello,

A friend of mine has told me about a new product on the market called Curalin, mainly sold in America for Diabetes control. He has stopped most of his medicine bar 1 x 500mg Metformin and told me his BG is under control.

It is a natural product, but never heard of it and wanted to know if anyone has tried it or is using it?

Thanks

just looked it up on line its very expensive and theres a scam going on So be carefull peeps

It is one of many "treatments" for T2 diabetes with claims to do magic. My only comment is that if any of them actually worked, they would be mainstream treatments.

There is a name for alternative medicies that work.
Conventional medicine

Quote by America's FDA:-

There are no dietary supplements that treat or cure diabetes.

Tahnsk you all for the comments, yes it could be a scam!
My friend is a 70 year old gentleman who has not had diabetes for that long, he did tell me it was expensive. Not sure how his BG is being controlled with these tablets though.

Perhaps metformin is all he needs?

Maybe he is simply taking his diabetes more seriously as evidenced by his spending serious money on what is essentially a scam and has changed his diet and lost some weight.

I think he told me another tablets did not work well? Not sure which one though.

Yes it could be that Metfirmin is doing its bit.

Oh dear may need to speak to him

Tell him his control is better due to him (well done) rather than the stuff he's buying.

Perhaps he can stop taking the curalin and see what happens?

Yes I agree, also may point him to this forum

Not sure I'd trust this company:

An Israel based company that have been criticised in both the US and Israel.
I found a paper online that was funded by the company itself, and only had a small sample - and according to this article posted above the participants using Curalin were still on other medication.

Then in June 2023, a clinical trial that was being conducted at Sheba Medical Center and other sites in Israel was stopped after the Ministry of Health claimed undeclared active ingredients in Curalin “may lead to a drop in sugar levels and cause dangerous hypoglycemia since this is an experiment involving diabetic patients who are simultaneously taking medications for type 2 diabetes.” An investigation is ongoing.

There's also this:
In addition, Curalife will soon sell two other products: a compact glucometer that communicates via acoustic soundwaves with your smartphone to monitor glucose levels and was created following the acquisition of Israeli diabetes startup GlucoMe; and “Bo,” a digital health companion inside Curalife’s health-tracking app to support behavioral changes.

There are others. Some pointing out that most of the ingredients can be found in curries, but India isn't a diabetes-free country. The basic problem is the poor regulation of dietary supplements, I think.

I did a quick search to see what the claimed clinical studies show and it looked (at first glance, anyway) to be a single study republished in a range of places looking (mostly) at how HbA1c lowered over a month.

Standing joke on diabetes forums for the last 25+ years at least - Alan Shanley even had a spoof advert for something similar hat cured everything and more besides on his (diabetes) Blog - and he is and always was, Australian!

Not sure how his BG is being controlled with these tablets though.
Newly diagnosed he’s probably made other diet and lifestyle changes

This does come up from time to time @Newbie777

Diabetes UK does not recommend the use of herbal remedies and supplements, as there is not enough evidence that they are safe and effective for people with diabetes to use.

There is also the following information on the DUK website : Herbal and food supplements | Diabetes UK

This thread discusses the product, and aside from doubts over effectiveness, some members who tried it (and similar supplements) fell foul of unexpected customs fees unfortunately.

I am going to lock this thread as the title and topic often attracts misleading posts from overseas spammers :(
