New to this site was given type 2 diabetes at Xmas last year, I’m such a fussy eater so wondered if anyone has some good recipe ideas.

Hi @Crocus63 welcome to the forum. A lot depends on what foods you eat and whether as part of your diagnosis they have suggested that you should looking at losing weight. However, a good starting point is Freshwell Project they provide information on low carb foods and have a wide variety of recipes, as does teh Diabetes UK site, theirs are accessed via the Learning Zone. For weight loss I can recommend the Fast 800 Recipe book for good, tasty recipes. I also use Keto recipes a lot as they focus on low carb meals although sometimes I need to make some adjustments.

I am sure others on here will be able to provide lots of suggestions as everyone appears to have made changes to their diets.

If its any consolation, I too can be a bit fussy so anything that recommends eggs (fried, poached, boiled, etc.) is a non-starter for me. I am also not a cheese eater although I can happily eat mozzarella cooked but raw cheese is just not very nice.

Welcome to the forum. Not sure in what way you are fussy, whether you are catering for more than one and if you need to lose belly fat and if you are on medication other than metformin. My first hba1c test was 69. The second was 64 in July. I was also told my cholestral had crept up. I dropped most of the naughty stuff and was surprised lower carb meant I was losing weight. Initially I cooked a lot of fish with salad or veg. Things like salmon or sea trout poached in some water other fish fried but often cooked with veg in the microwave. There is a thread on the forum where people post about their meals. Sometimes I buy hot smoked salmon or cooked salmon fillets. I have bought cauliflower and broccoli rice from Holland and Barrett and edamame pasta. Nigella lawson publishes recipes each day and some are suitable for me.
I often have full fat Greek yoghurt with berries and nuts or seeds or a spoonful of granola.
The diabetes site has lots of recipes as do the BBC and supermarkets. Mushroom omlette is my other favourite recipe.
This site,on the left hand sideunder websites has links to Freshwell, Caldesi and Moseley plus others including many recipes. All recipes are diabetic friendly but Caldesi in particular are quite low carb.

My favourite sandwich is a piece of rye bread cream cheese and smoked salmon ie an open sandwich one slice of bread,.There is a bakery near me that does good rye bread sliced thinly.

The internet is full of low carb recipes so doing a search including the ingredients you have or want to use will come up with things but it may just be a case of modifying what you are currently having but reducing your portion of the high carb foods and having more of the lower ones. There is no need to eat things you don't like just because they are included in meal plans and it doesn't matter if you tend to eat the same meals as long as they are the right foods.
The website sugarfreelondoner has lots of low carb sweet and savoury recipes

Welcome @Crocus63. I have found the simplest way is to start with a list of foods that are good for a T2D and then cook the ones you like. You will find well presented red, amber, green lists here in Dr Andrews (Freshwell Surgery) Meal Planner.

There are plenty of recipes and meal planners here on Diabetes UK; also some very good T2D cook books by Katie Caldesi, Jonno Proudfoot (Real Meal Revolution) and others. Another way is to adapt appealing recipes you come across.

I was impressed by this in Waterstone's the other day:
The Reverse Your Diabetes Cookbook: Lose weight and eat to beat type 2 diabetes
Tip: Follow the link and click on the Read Sample button under the cover image (top left).

Good luck.
