I popped into the pharmacy on Tuesday to pick up needles, AGAIN! ( And order yet more Creon). I only get 100 needles at a time and they last me less than three weeks so I’m forever ordering them. Likewise my Creon, I get 300 a month, 3/4 per meal 3 times a day, but in recent months I’ve had to up that to 4/5 a meal, so again I’m forever ordering them.

So I nipped into the GP surgery next door and spoke to the receptionist and explained I would like 200 needles and 400 Creon. I didn’t want to take up a GP appointment and asked if they could get the prescription team to call me re this. She said she would send them a “task”. I must admit I’ve had problems before with “ tasks” not been sent on so wasn’t too hopeful it would be any time soon. I received a call from the pharmacy yesterday morning to say my Creon was in. When I opened my packet I had 400 Creon and on my prescription form they had altered my needle prescription to 200! . Now that’s what I call a result. 🙂

I am going to email the surgery and thank them, as folks are quick to complain but how many actually say well done when things go right? 🙂
 
I get 180 needles per prescription as mines come in boxes of 90 🙄 lol, I did however have to put in early for them as half a box full went all over the floor! Yes people may argue they were covered etc but my OCD doesn't see it like that, they cant really restrict them though as there's no saying how much I may need to inject, glad you've got it sorted and so quickly too! 🙂 xx

Yes, do send an email to thank them. I was a medical secretary in psychiatry and it was always nice to be thanked by patients. I would always get back to people too, even if it was to say I’d not got an answer to their question yet, just to reassure them I’d not forgotten. Yellow sticky notes were a great help in reminding me! 🙂
 
My surgery were similarly compliant with my requests - didn't know what to expect with it being a new surgery, so was pleasantly surprised! 🙂 I can order any of my items once a month, although I usually don't need to, but it does mean that I can make fewer requests without fear of running low or too many visits to the pharmacy 🙂
 
I too work as a secretary in a surgery and it’s always nice to hear when someone is happy. As you say people are very quick to complain so well done @eggyg
 
I never changed pen needles till it got a little painful perhaps 1 a wk before i got a pump now they even last longer when i bolus with a Fiasp pen.

I have had to send a review to the surgery rather than an email, which I think is more personal. However, this is a “ Super Surgery” which was formed a few years ago by joining three practices together so it definitely isn’t personal. I wasn’t allowed to identify the person I dealt with by name, gender or distinguishing marks! I just called her the receptionist and mentioned which surgery I was in and on which day of the week. I suppose that’s more to stop folks “ mouthing off” rather than praising someone. Seems a sad indication of the world we live in. I do hope it does get passed on and read by a human being and isn’t swallowed up in a computerised list of reviews. @SueEK any thoughts on this?
 
I know from a friend who sent a critical one, got an almost immediately phone call about her experience. I suppose like you she goes to what could be termed a Super Surgery, though one 2 of the three surgeries is about 10 miles away, and the other 2 are opposite sides of the City. No of the surgeries are on direct bus routes to each other.

Never heard of that to be honest. We are a large surgery, 12 GPS but in the process of merging with two other local ones, goodness knows how many we will have then. Don’t think we will be in same building though.
As for the contact with the surgery I think the most common thing we get are cards from patients saying thank you and personally naming anyone who has helped them. Also emails and I’ve never heard of not being able to name anyone. I know for complaints they go straight to the practice managers and if they receive a compliment a message is sent round internally to let us all know. I suppose all surgeries have their own way of doing things. It is nice when we do get compliments, particularly for the reception staff as they are the ones that get the worse treatment from patients.
