The GP tested this and result was 722pmol/l The test is described as Plasma insulin C-peptide level and the comments section states
  • A fasting C-peptide of <80 pmol/L or a stimulated C-peptide of <20 pmol/L suggests absolute insulin deficiency.
  • In insulin-treated diabetic patients, a stimulated C-peptide of <600 pmol/L suggests marked insulin deficiency and type1 DM.
  • C-peptide values close to thresholds should be interpreted with great caution and may not assist clinical decision.
Reading up on this, normal levels are 0.17 to 0.83 nanomoles per liter (nmol/L) or 170 to 830 picomols/l which is contrary to what the comments say or am I seeing apples and oranges?

The cPeptide result seems to be normal but that can not be.

Yes, thanks. Exactly the same except for this explanation in the Exeter statement “May occur in Type 1 diabetes in the honeymoon period, particularly if a patient is obese”!!
