Ministers should reconsider England’s “living with Covid” plans, health leaders have said, while accusing the government of ignoring the ongoing threat for ideological reasons.

The NHS Confederation, which represents organisations across the healthcare sector, has accused No 10 of having “abandoned any interest” in the pandemic, despite a new Omicron surge putting pressure on an already overstretched NHS.

“The brutal reality for staff and patients is that this Easter in the NHS is as bad as any winter,” said Matthew Taylor, the chief executive of the NHS Confederation.

“But instead of the understanding and support NHS staff received during 2020 and 2021, we have a government that seems to want to wash its hands of responsibility for what is occurring in plain sight in local services up and down the country. No 10 has seemingly abandoned any interest in Covid whatsoever.

“NHS leaders and their teams feel abandoned by the government and they deserve better.”
We do not have a living-with-Covid plan, we have a living-without-restrictions ideology.
Matthew Taylor

Concerned that Diabetics are no longer protected on the Vulnerable list and yet I believe it has been proven that Diabetics generally have weakened immune systems. To support this Diabetics were prioritised for the Covid vaccine and it's recognised that a Diabetic is at greater risk of developing Covid complications.

Now Feels like Diabetics have been abandoned too.

Not all Diabetics were on the Vulnerable list.

At the moment I am going out to the social events which have started up again - but there are few people attending as Covid is so rampant in this area. Most get only a mild illness, but people do not report it, even when it would be a single email to let everyone know.
I caught Covid at the end of March and went out twice to the shops, paused to talk to neighbours and visited family when infectious.

We now seem to be in another Era of Survival of the fittest.
Varying levels of effect on the individual some will go on as if it never existed, some will suffer varying long term Health issues and some will unfortunately Die
The NHS has a limited resource to cope with the demand from people who need help whether it be other health issues or Covid related illness.
I guess we just have to hope that the virus does not mutate to a version that can not be controlled by vaccine or anti viral drug and end up wishing we had not spread the Virus and help it mutate. In the same way that we now have Bacteria that is becoming uncontrollable with Antibiotics. Thankyou to all of you that avoid spreading or catching the virus.

Interesting article on the WHO website here :WHO - Vaccines
It has has taken different generations of vaccines more than 70 years to bring Polio disease under control in most parts of the world and I think we are going to need better future generations of Covid vaccinations to do the same but they need to come up with something to help stop the ongoing transmission of this virus and yes vaccinated people pass it on too.

People need to be told the truth and advised that Covid isn't over by a long way and won't be if we keep spreading the virus.

Again a Big Thankyou to the sensible people who take care not to contract the virus and pass it on.
