The government’s new public health agency will protect the public against external threats to the UK, pandemics and infectious diseases, Matt Hancock has pledged.

The health and social care secretary made the announcement on Tuesday as he unveiled the National Institute for Health Protection, which is being created following the controversial scrapping of Public Health England (PHE).

Because Dido Harding has been so successful with test and trace... 🙄

You can bet your boots that whoever heads this new agency will be a Tory pal from industry, and not anyone with medical or public health experience. Dido Harding was, after all, chief executive of Talk Talk, the telecoms company that persistently came bottom of the Which magazines survey of customer service, even worse than BT, which is quite a low bar.

Oh my god, the nightmare has come true. Dido Harding is to head the new National Institute for Health Protection. The lunatics, I fear, have taken over the asylum.

It seems the worse you perform in your previous job, the higher you get promoted.

The Peter Principle is the name for when someone gets promoted beyond the level of their competence. What's the name for when someone consistently gets promoted beyond the level of their incompetence?

At least Matt Hancock has a new tie - blue not pink!

One can only assume that these people must be good at doing something which isn't at all noticeable to peasants like us ....
