Hi so as a T1 diabetic I had my first covid jab.. once I chased it up as id been missed! Anyway I was pretty ill afterwards my arm ached the 2nd day but about 5 days after I get really short of breath and had zero energy I never felt so tired and lethargic. Didn't really think much of it but since these articles about clots and not giving the AZ jab to under 30s im now thinking about not having it. I don't know if this is completely ridiculous or not and I have no other diabetic friends to ask. Please give me your opinions x

I think those are normal side effects from the vaccine, I had several symptoms the same. The reccomendations for under 30s with medical conditions is still to have the second AZ jab because the risk of getting a blood clot with Covid is worse than the risk of getting a blood clot with the vaccine.

The advice is very much to get the second dose.

While I doubt anyone's really that sure, it looks like these rare clotting events happened after the first dose (there aren't any reports of this happening after the second one). (So maybe it's something particular to the individual and if you don't get this with the first dose then you're OK for the second. Or maybe it's because of something else entirely, of course.)

Plus they reckon with side effects generally they're worse with the first AZ jab and less so with the second - and vice versa with the Pfizer. My jury's currently still out with the latter - we both had the first one at the end of Jan and our second ones are at 4.40 this afternoon.

Hello @Vic88
Just to say that I had my second AZ jab on Tuesday.
I did have a strong re-action to the first jab and was quite poorly with flu like symptoms for several days, and my blood sugars levels were very erratic.

With the 2nd jab I have had no problems at all - not even a sore arm, and my blood glucose levels have stayed stable as well.
I also had a chat with the doctor at the immunisation centre, who was very re-assuring about there being no instances of problems with blood clots following 2nd vaccinations.

I will definitely be going for my second AZ jab.

The risk of blood clots is infinitessimally small, and if I am trying to avoid all things at that level of risk I would never leave the house again.

And you might need to avoid the kitchen and bathroom in the house which may be problematic.
:D :D :D

And also avoid ‘not leaving the house’ as that is very bad for you o_O

Just had my first dose of the AZ vaccine. Feel fine so far, my brother and hubby have both had that one and had no problems. I was warned I might get flu-like symptoms for a day or two but let’s hope I don’t!
Had an interesting conversation with the nurse though, she said all this fuss about blood clots is a complete load of rubbish, if you get Covid itself you have a far higher risk of getting blood clots, she also said that the female contraceptive pill has a far higher risk of causing clots than the AZ vaccine but millions of women take that regularly without a second thought. Bloody media scaring everyone again :(😡
