Coventry gran brings diabetes under control - by losing four stone

A COVENTRY grandmother has brought her diabetes under control ? by losing four stone with the help of her slimming instructor daughter.

Marie Archer thought her weight was a lost cause as she relies on a wheelchair to get around most of the time and struggles to exercise.

However, with the help of her daughter Andie Barker she has lost four stone in just 12 months.

As a result she has been able to stop taking insulin injections for her diabetes for the first time in 17 years.

Good for her, an inspirational story. Makes me wonder what her diabetes care was like though.

As she's 61, it's possible that she needs calipers because of getting polio as a child before immunisation was widespread.

A great achievement. Presumably the slimming club, and especially her daughter, was able to give her more support than any NHS clinic with which she had contact.
