Stoke Gifford Parish Council - just weeks after the closure of the Little Stoke parkrun – have announced plans to spend £750,000 on upgrading facilities on the site in a bid to increase participation in sporting activities.

Little Stoke Park, owned by South Gloucestershire Council but leased to Stoke Gifford Parish Council, was used as a venue for a parkrun every Saturday.

The group had 5,568 runners signed up to Little Stoke parkrun, with 338 running clubs involved

But runners were forced to quit the park earlier this year after the parish council voted to start charging the organisation to use the facility for the weekly event.

You couldn't make it up...! 🙄

Sounds like Stoke Gifford Parish Council is getting capital money, which it will spend on improving facilities so it can charge more to those groups which rent the hall, pitches etc.
