Dietary advice for type 2 diabetics is usually to eat little and often but a new small study suggests this advice may need some adjusting.

Researchers from Link?ping University, Sweden put 21 patients, all of whom had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, on three different diets, with each individual trying each of the diets at some point.

The first diet was low-fat, consisting of 55% of calories from carbohydrates. The second was low-carbohydrate, with 20% from carbs. And the third was a Mediterranean-style way of eating, meaning that breakfast consisted of a cup of black coffee, and that the entire calorie count of the combined breakfast and lunch for the other diets was instead provided at lunch.
