Hi , I did join this forum a 6 years ago but I was in another place at the time so I just drifted away.
Looking back I feel that my previous GP missed symptoms that if I had know about might have been able to alter my life style to the current issues I had then.
I managed to control my Diabetics Type 2 through diet and exercise. However , Covid struct me twice , one very early in the pandemic and I felt terrible for for a couple of weeks but then I was fine. In all honesty I have no one to blame regarding my slippage apart from myself. The second time around apart from knowing I was positive I had no symptoms at all until I had my forth jab ( OAPs booster ) and promptly slept for 24 hours. Since then I have been putting off jobs until next week and next week comes and I put the job off again.A little bit like ground hog day but I do keep fit.
My doctor's practice caught up with me and I decided that I had to see what condition I was in , some good news , lost 10 kg since last visit and blood pressure OK ish , bad new was that my previous 3 month blood test was 100 but I managed to reduce the level to 85.All my other functions satisfactory so I made a conscious decision that I had to radically change approach to diabetics.
Really cut down on my alcohol consumption to get down to 14 units a week but I am a determined sod and will achieve my target. I woke up in 1977 and decided that I would give up smoking and have to to date have never smoked again.
Food intake and really knowing what to eat does confuse me but hay ho I will learn ! No more sweet things and I have told all my friends my problem and they have been very supportive.
I do appreciate your questions and hope my scribing is not to boring. Any suggestions would be welcome.
