I've had a cold since before Christmas, and it has left me with a persistent cough, for which the doctor has given me sugar free linctus. I have a sore throat which doc says is laryngitius and pharingitis. I think it is a case of being persistent withthe doctor till i get something that helps and patient with myself till it heals.

Does any one else have any ideas of things that will help as I am getting fed up with tea by the gallon, and with a 4 year old running about it aint easy having hot steamy inhalers.

Any ideas are welcome.

Don't have much advice i am afraid but can sympathise about the larangitis. I got it 5 yrs ago and it progressed over the night shift. GBeing the nurse in charge I had to hand over which was very difficult then I had my brother in laws wedding which meant family were staying with us.
All I remember is that I was told to drink lots but not things with caffine in. Unfortunately it is just a waiting game due to it being a virus.
Hope you get over it soon.

simple sweets

I've found that sucking sugar free sweets or sweets with sugar and compensating with insulin can work well for easing a tickly throat. I find I need to break the habit of coughing - ie if I can go a few hours without coughing towards the end of the virus lifespan, that's the end of the coughing. But sometimes, coughing just takes as long as it takes.

Please see above,
I know we shouldnt give medical advice but I found this stuff is Brill.
You can buy it over the shelf and its also available on prescription.
Cant say it will work but I suffer from irritating coughs loads and I have found this stuff works for me.
Its sugar free and recommended for Diabetics, its not expensive if you buy it yourself, but I find its great for dry aggrevating coughs.
Good Luck and Happy New Year...🙂

Thanks for suggestions. I have some caffine free tea bags so will give them a try.

I go back to doctor on Friday, so will see what else I get out of her.
