Hey Guys, just me again having a rant.

Had a cough for around 6 weeks now. Last month I took erthyromycin for it with no positivity coming out of that! Then I went on holiday where it still continued & got worse, at the same time my blood sugars were also a bit erratic because of the bad holiday diet!

Come back from holiday now, BS calmed a bit but then my cough acted up on top of that got a cold. Now i've been on ciprofloxacin and I think thats also sending my sugars up... got to 24.5 today but within 1hr it was down to 19. Typical since the BF was round and we cooked tea together!

Seems like a bit of a cycle, bad blood sugars = illnesses = antibiotics (pushing sugars up i'm sure) and round again! Bit annoying but hopefully it will go away with these antibiotics, i'm not feeling ill... it's just 'there'. I think it is getting better anyway 🙂

Fingers crossed this isn't the decease of my pancreas D:

Hope you had a good holiday despite everything! The illness and antibios are no doubt raising your insulin resistance and making your poor pancreas work a bit too hard and it doesn't look like it can keep up :( Hopefully, the cold and cough will be gone soon and you can get some stability back - but do seek help if your levels persist at too high a level. Are you testing for ketones?

Hi Liz

Hope your feeling a bit better soon. I have had that cold too that seems to be doing the rounds. No amount of antibiotics seems to shift it.

Hope your feeling a bit better soon.

Take care

Andy

Hi Liz, if you've had a cough for 6weeks you should get the doc to take a look. Just a thought - are you on any medicines that could cause the cough, some high blood pressure medicine has that as a side-effect.
Sorry, just realised you doc must have prescribed the antibiotics.

Not on any medicines except the antibiotics, I do have an inhalor for my asthma but it makes me feel really bad so I avoid taking that. It has been suggested that my cough could be to do with that (but it is flemmy?) so when I get back to uni i'm going to see about changing my inhalor..

I have indeed checked for ketones and there were none! Funny enough its now 5 hours after the 24.5 and i'm down to 7.6 O_o I think it was a case of my pancreas catching up!! Also will add that the antibiotic would have worn off now 1 per 12 hrs perhaps which could be why its leveled out, but have just taken another...

Maybe i'll give it a break tomorrow and eat nicely. Have headache though which i've had all day :( Plus feeling sick but I reckon thats from the quick drop in BS?

High levels make me feel nauseous and rapid drops give me a headache! Hope tomorrow is better for you Liz, sleep well 🙂
