More than £1 billion was spent on diabetes medicines in England in 2019/20, up 20% on the 2015/16 figure of £958m, NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) data has revealed.

The rise to £1.2bn in 2019/20 was “driven by large increases in costs of antidiabetic drugs and insulin”, which resulted in “increased cost per person in 2019/20 [compared to] previous years”, NHSBSA said in a report on the prescribing for diabetes in England, published yesterday (November 5).
Antidiabetic drugs – generally prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes – accounted for £615 million of the total cost of diabetes medicines in 2019/20 and remain the “most prescribed treatment for diabetes”, totalling 42 million items in 2019/20.

As I was diagnosed in 2016 and given tablets at once with no advice on diet - they have surely brought it on themselves.
Just stop handing out prescriptions and telling type twos that baked beans and potatoes are a good lunch - how much simpler can it be?

... and we both think Shirley Ballas looks far better and happier in her own body without the big boobs!

I imagine they won't make wholesale changes to how they do things without solid scientific evidence that the change you are suggesting will be better for patients. I suppose it's back to the problem being discussed on the other thread about whether carbs are needed or not.

Doctors see that some people go from full on diabetes to almost normal and have no interest in how or why.
I don't understand that mentality.
