Hi
Wow what a day, busy at work head down blah blah blah. Had lunch so far usual. Suddenly 2 hrs after lunch I realised I hadn't injected for lunch! I tested & was twelves. So I injected usual amount for lunch.

Headed to car, got in car, road closed so had to turn around, started to feel a bit dizzy, so pulled over got out of car - wowzer- light headed and everything, got testing kit out of boot, tested, three.three! So I ate ate and drank. Had can of full fat coke, hand full of jelly beans, and packet ofglucose tablets, oh and a mars bar. After ten minutes I was four.four, so I drove on.

I get home, and I was sixteens. So I ate far too much. I then injected for dinner and am getting back down now nine.nine now.

Anyway real question, why did I get so low for usual meal and amount of insulin. Because I injected late should I have injected not for lunch but a correction dose? If so what do people out there use as there correction dose/ratio. Is it the same as a meal carb ratio dose?

Sorry for long thread but wanted to give you the full picture!

Cheers

Rossi

Don't you just love the rollercoasters? 😉

I remember being told that if it's two hours or more since you ate, you should only give a correction dose, as most of the food will have been digested by then. I think there are other rules for less time that that since you ate, but I can't remember the rest of them!

With regards to a correction dose, it varies from person to person. My DSN said most people find that one unit of insulin lowers their blood glucose by two to three mmol, and I find that works well for me. You have to find out for yourself what works for you though 🙂.

Cheers, I injected for 2-3 moles to 1 unit! Something strange happened!
Up & down but a bit Diab Depressed earlier, better now though only friday till the weekend!!!

Ahh...maybe you're a bit more sensitive to insulin then and one unit actually lowers you by more than three mmol? Or it could always have been one of those random unexplainable diabetic things!

I know what you mean, I think we all get like that sometimes. Still, you're right, tomorrow's Friday! :D
