Essex residents who woke up to new lockdown restrictions this morning may have been left confused when they checked their NHS COVID-19 app.
As of 0.01am today (Saturday, October 17), all of Essex - except Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock - went into a Tier Two 'high' lockdown in an attempt to reduced the rise in coronavirus cases.
However, some NHS Covid-19 apps from residents in the Essex County Council area were still showing that they were under a 'medium' Local Covid Alert Level.
Although some apps had already updated, there were still some apps showing a 'medium' alert, confusing residents in what is already a confusing time.

Why your Covid-19 app might not be showing the right alert level
There have been instances where two phones in the same house show different lockdown levels
