So just looking to hear your views.

I was on a medication for my nerve pain in my feet and legs and also low mood, it was used for both and the dosage needed to be increased.

Once that happened it started causing me severe dizziness and sickness. This resulted in me been prescribed 2 separate medications and one is classed as a controlled drug as well as additionally been prescribed anti sickness medication.

I was told that I could have a 14 day supply and be reviewed.

I had the review and it was agreed I could continue and a prescription would be issued.

When collecting and returned home only 1 was there.

Tried to call GP reception and she refuses to help saying she couldn’t do anything and I needed to contact the separate medication line.

No one answered and I left a voicemail message and then another and then Easter hit. A third message was left after Easter and finally was rectified.

I was left with none of that medication for over a week and therefore had horrendous leg ans foot pain again.

I’ve complained and a letter was sent to me that I was unhappy about, so started a formal procedure, GP partner wrote to me but again there dodging around it and I’m not happy.

They have suggested escalating this but wondered what you all thought? It’s the parliamentary and health service ombudsman I believe.

It was also a physician associate that reviewed me. My surgery have employed quite a few of these.

I have copies of all letters I sent and they sent.

I also requested a copy of the notes they inputted into the system. So it shows I was given 2 medications and told they needed to be reviewed and then the second PA hasn’t recorded that she reviewed both medications.

If you were left in bad pain like that, then I think it’s worth taking it further @MarkGeordie as long as doing so won’t cause you extra stress or worry.

Yeah. I do think they need to at least take responsibility and acknowledge their mistake.

Depending on the CD involved, what you are doing could be described as drug seeking behaviour. Way to get denied. Just be careful how you do whatever you do.
Drug seeking behaviour?

It’s a controlled drug that was prescribed to me.

It was reviewed and agreed I could continue.

They failed to prescribe it.

Me chasing them for a drug I am allowed is drug seeking behaviour?

Ok then.

I suppose if it is perceived as an addictive medication people may over medicate themselves and then seek more, even though it is prescribed.
I'm afraid doctors and pharmacists do have people coming with all sorts of cock and bull stories trying to get more medication.
Certainly pursue your complaint if it will prevent it happening again.

I understand that, but it wasn’t possible to do so in my case.

1 tablet 3 times a day for 14 days, to be reviewed, so I had access to no more to over medicate.

Review undertaken and agreed I could stay on it and on same dosage. Then never prescribed.

Again, had access to no more to over medicate.

So I thought I was doing the right thing by complaining.

Maybe ask for more tests, better tests, more intensive tests ?

What tests could I be looking at for leg and foot pain caused by neuropathy? Just so I can discuss it at the next review on 16th. Thanks.

Have you tried Lyrica and Amitriptyline ? Maybe just ask to be referred to an endocrinologist or pain clinic ?

Wasn't trying to be mean to you. Was trying to help from previous experience
Amitriptylihe doesn’t agree with me and pregabalin which is sold under the name Lyrica is the controlled drug I’m on.

ok, didn't realise Lyrica was a cd, tried both Lyrica and Amitriptyline and didn't help for neuropathic pain in toes / feet. am on a class A CD for back pain (no help for toes), so more pressure on our GP about prescribing. Maybe ask for a referral to a pain specialist as GP's will not prescribe CD's unless told to by a consultant. GP should have received letter from consultant instructing to prescribe. Go back to consultant.
That can’t be true because it was the GP that started me on it.

Consultant is not involved in this yet as not seen in over a year for diabetes.

I’ll have to chase that up I think.

Got it.
