My levels have been really high for most of this month (12-22), with not many lower. The worst time seems to be mid-morning, although no time is good at present. I have increased my bolus and need to increase further still but am not sure what is causing this. My basal is fine and I had my breakfast sorted out with good numbers up until this. I am injecting 2 u/s per 10g carbs at breakfast and still need more. I really need to get some control back.

Hi Newbs, it's just a thought but have you tried a new cartridge of bolus insulin?

I haven't actually, will do though - thanks Sue.

Hi there. I have been having the same problem this month. My Background has gone from 12-20 and my ratios apear to need changing also!. The only thing I can think of is the change in weather as I have changed the cartridge!x

Hi, sorry you are going through the same. I changed the cartridge last night but still no better today, it is getting so frustrating. Maybe you're right and it is the weather, although it's been mild here until the last week or so. I don't know. I carb counted my tea then added to 2 units of NR for luck(!) and I'm still a 13.2 now. 😡

I hope it settles down for us both very soon!!

The good thing is that you have eliminated the insulin as being at fault.
Fingers crossed things will settle down for you soon newbs.

Thank you. My morning levels are now creeping up too, all very strange and frustrating. I've put my basal up a bit now too and will keep increasing my bolus - I'm sure it'll all crash back down again just when I get it right. 🙂

Terribly frustrating when this happens! I hope that you manage to get things settled at a good levels very soon 🙂 And that it lasts!

Ive had to change my ratios a little this month to allow for the hours change.

For example if I eat a snack after dinner, I need to double check the time now as it may fall into the next set of ratios from before the house change.

Same with breakfast, and lunch. I thought my body would naturally change but still seems to be clinging on to the old timings.

Just to let you know my blood sugars have also been all over the place in the last few weeks and no pattern either. I think this happens to me every nov/dec for some reason!! Very hard to correct as they are quite random from one day to the next! Arghhh Sorry - can offer no explanation/advice other than test often and maybe start adjusting insulin after day 3 or 4 very slowly. I'm on a pump so I am currently setting temporary basals - I will need to adjust permanently if things don't settle soon.

Today I woke to a 5.5 and was 5.5 mid-morning too - I wonder how the rest of the day will go! I have had a headache all morning and feeling a bit hypo, think my body had definitely got used to be high for so long. Hopefully I'm on the way to getting back on track, although hope I haven't spoke to soon now.

Hope you maintain good levels newbs! I wonder if you have had an infection with no symptoms, that your immune system has now dealt with? Happens to me sometimes - I just get the slightest feeling of being ill and levels go a bit haywire, then everything is fine again!
