Hi there, just wondering if anyone else had had experience with coming off hormonal contraception and their levels going MENTAL? Stopped the depo injection a month ago and switched onto a non hormonal coil and I've noticed my blood sugar levels have now rocketed and I've been struggling to get them back in check for about a month now. I've upped my basal insulin dosage which seems to have levelled out my morning testing level but it's still not what it used to be. For example I have the same breakfast pretty much every day and know 10 units of novorapid would cover it but now those 10 units aren't doing the trick any more. Did have an appointment with my doctor but he wasn't sure and agreed with upping my basal insulin anyway. I know hormones can mess with levels but just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and whether to just accept this as a new normal and my carb ratio etc may now need changing? Thanks.

It may be that your body is just taking time to settle, I know many women that suffer crazy times during their cysle etc, I noticed that 1-2 weeks before my Depo was due my levels would start to rise and then would go back to "my" normal after I'd had it, I'm now on the Sayana Press injection and still trying to work out how my body reacts when it's due etc! xx

Hiya, ahhh I noticed the same thing that as it was coming up to the renewal date my levels would start creeping up as well. I was on it for 6 years so my body is definitely trying to figure out what's going on lol. I know I'm just getting ahead of myself as it's only been a month but it's so frustrating when you feel like you're not in control anymore. xx

I was on Depo from around 2012 (I think) and I think I had one in 2020 so my diabetes has NEVER known anything without it as was only diagnosed 2016, for a brief period in 2019 we had Sayana Press as there were issues with getting the Depo but I went back to it as the Sayana was leaving delves in my thigh but I have chosen to use it now with the current situation, much easier being able to administer it in your own home lol, I understand how you feel about lack of control though as I'm struggling due to my anxiety and OCD xx

Hope you find a workaround until it settles down again @MarnieC
