Saw the consultant this morning and we agreed it's time for insulin. They plan to start me on a long acting insulin at night since that's when my bgs seem to climb highest. I'm not sure which one yet, I have to wait for the DSN to call me with an appointment, apparently the way you jab yourself is different too and I also have to be shown that.

Hi Alison,

I hope all goes well for you and things sort themselves out quickly, good luck chuck 🙂

Take care

Be interested to know what the difference is in the way you jab. Anyway Alison, good luck, maybe this will be the start of something better in achieving better results.

Good luck Alison 🙂 I hope that this means that you finally start having some good control and better levels. Perhaps you are supposed to use the blunt end of the pen instead of the sharp end? If so, I've been doing it wrong! 😉 :D

Me too LOL

Though it may just be 'do it further way from your heart rather than closer' - my old consultant always reckoned the old theory was faster acting nearer the heart andslower acting further away.

Or in normal parlance, belly for fast and bum for slow!

I think it may have more to do with dosages and changing cartridges than where and how you do the jabbing. Levemir and Insulatard have both been mentioned.
