Boy oh boy am I gonna have fun at this appointment tomorrow. I've not had my pre appointment tests (holiday and illness getting in the way), I do have my results from my last GP review to take with me.
I last saw the Consultant in Jan and then was to have a 6 month review which as turned into 10 month review - due to taking 8 week from letter for an appointment and then it being changed.

So any way....

My number of late have been appalling - due to bronchitis, steroid drug and antibiotics. But before this I noticed my 2 hr bs after breakfast where getting as high as 11 then back to 4-7 at 3 hrs - gp said up to 10 is acceptable.

So I think me and the consultant have a lot to discuss re bs during the day and keeping them at a decent level.

Today I'm gonna do another 2 hr after each meal test to see how my numbers are - kinda a last minute check now my bs seem to be back to normal for me !!

Yesterday was the first day in over 3 weeks I did not have a reading over 6.4. I am now nearly back to my pre ill insulin units of 10 units levemir and 4 units Novorapid (Novo with eve meal). I was on 12 levemir and 8 novorapid with eve meal and also injecting extra novo with breakfast and lunch some days - naughty me self deciding (if that is the right way to describe it)

So I wonder what the consultant will say .....

I hope the appointment goes well Di. Nothing wrong with adjusting your insulin when you needed to, you did the right thing to try and keep your levels under control and didn't take any risks. 🙂

Just done my 2 hr after breakfast - Shredded Wheat and 13.8 !! no no no after being 4.9 before grrrrrrrrrrr

Di my fingers are crossed it all goes well Tomorrow something is going wrong somewhere and bless you you need it sorting xx

I hope that everything goes well at your appointment and that you are able to get things sorted out xx

I am assuming you used to be able to have Shredded Wheat and stay within reasonable limits after breakfast?

That being the case, perhaps Di you are not producing as much natural insulin as you used to, or your Insulin Resistance has grown.

FWIW obviously I produce zilch insulin and confirm I have no IR, any Dawn Phenom. is taken care of by my base rate - and I could not eat 2 Shredded Wheat or 2 Weetabix and stay within the bounds unless I had about twice as much insulin as it should take and then spent my mornings going hypo and drinking Lucozade. I can happily eat one Weetabix though.

I mean I could of course do all sorts of complicated long-actingboluses etc with the pump if I was desperate to eat Weetabix! but it tastes like cardboard anyway so I save that for meals I really like!

Try less carbs more protein in a morning!

Cos you may find that shooting insulin with it - doesn't solve the prob and creates more ......

Ive been having prob with breakfast since beg of Sept and have tried several the shredded wheat was not to bad compared to some of the others - so carried on with it - saw gp about morning bs and he suggested morning novo insulin, but then that caused hypo......so stopped it.

So back to the drawing board with consultant tomoz i think !!

Hope it all goes well with the consultant Di, at the very least you'll be able to see his handsome face again - assuming this is the same one you were raving about last time lol
