Well i had my appt yesterday and was able to discuss in full the floods I have that cause dramatic weight gain. I had it all documented in my food diary - whjat I ate, the exercise I did, and the weight loss and dramatic gains despite sticking to it.

He was excellent - and totally understood what was going on.

I have to get my weight to under 14 stone and then the insulin resistance should improve a good deal hopefully enough to stop the floods.

Also he has changed my diet around again. I now have

Breakfast: 250 cals
Snack: 100 cals
Lunch : Now 500 cals as opposed to 250
2pm: Fibre bar - one i enjoy
4pm: Fibre bar
6pm: Fibre bar
6.30: Dinner 250 cals --as opposed to 500 cals previously
bedtime snack 100 cals

He has also changed my meds to:

Morning: 2 Frusemide, 1 metformin, 2 acarbose (was 2 met before)
Lunch 2 acarbose
Tea 2 acarbose, 1 metform
Bed: 2 metformin, 1 Topamax

He has also given me a prescription of provera to reintroduce my monthly and was surprised that the gp hadn't done so already.

I have to keep up the exercise too.

He will see me in 3 months but I have an open appt too if I get another flood I can go see him again straight away if I wish.

He totally sympathised with me as he could see how much hard work I am putting in - I did tell him I felt totally depressed and he listened. My appt was only supposed to be 45mins but was 1.5 hrs!

I am a bit nervous about introducing the 3 fibre bars as well as my 1300 cals but he feels the worst is it might and only might slow down the losses but hopefully will stop the floods that cause me to gain the weight again.

I am now trying to get to 14.5 stone for xmas! Yikes!🙂🙂

Hi Lucy. I'm really pleased that you had such a good appointment x

Sounds like a great consultant Lucy, I hope the modifications bring you the results you are hoping for 🙂

Good luck sounds like you are doing all you can and have the right attutude. I'm seeing Specialist this Thurs they suspect I may have been misdiagnosed two months ago as type 2 instead of 1.5. Anyhow it makes such a difference to have good NHS support team. All the best I'm sure you'll achieve your goal.

wow, sounds like a great appointment Lucy, and what a great consultant!! keep hold of him!!
